Izzy Welcome - Philly Style

Last weekend, we went to Philadelphia for a Welcome Izzy party. Isabel has stayed there twice now and luckily she likes to sleep in the car! Scott's parents threw the big bash so that everyone could come out and meet Isabel. They had an open house on Saturday and there was lots of good food, great friends and perfect weather.

Isabel got to meet all of Grammy and Papa John's friends. She is lucky to be loved so much by so many!!

Some of Daddy's buddies were able to attend and we even found a new babysitter in Delaney McWilliams.

Bubbe and Papa also came up for the party and to celebrate with their "new" Philly friends. It is always so nice to see the two families together and enjoying each other's (and now their) extended families. The grandparents are loving this new chapter in their lives!!

The weekend ended with a barbecue at Melissa and Gavin's house to celebrate all the June birthdays. Everyone enjoyed the food from grill master G.

Izzy especially enjoyed some quality time with her Aunt Melissa and Uncle Gavin!

Race for the Cure - 5 Year Celebration

Saturday was very special as we celebrated 5 cancer free years for Rachel's mom, walking in her honor at the Komen Race for the Cure in DC. As many of you know, she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2002, but luckily it was detected early and surgery was all she needed.

Five years is a big number for cancer survivors and this special celebration included fourteen walkers on her team and one roller (little Izzy), who slept through most of the race. Scott's parents were also able to come down to walk and celebrate.

Everyone who signed up got a t-shirt but unfortunately they did not have baby sizes. Thank god Rachel is good with a needle and thread as she made a special onesie to commemorate the occasion.

After the race, the celebration continued at the Ermann's for brunch.

Rachel and I would like to thank everyone who attended to support her mom and this important cause. We realize not everyone can attend due to distance and prior commitments but wanted to share the link to Mom Ermann's (Phylis) team page if you wish to donate to the cause.

Izzy At The Farm

As many of you know, each Memorial Day weekend, we take a pilgrimage to Highland County, VA (the middle of nowhere) to the Freckled Frog Farm for a battle between the Toads and Frogs.

We were thrilled to bring our own toadpole to the farm for the first time. Almost 70 people and 22 kids under the age of 7, participated in this year's farm outing, a great opportunity for Izzy to make some new friends.

As you will see, Izzy had a great time but also caught up on her sleep. She showed off a toad outfit each day and even sported a pair of fancy sunglasses.
